Explanation of what causes an
Earthquake

The inside of the Earth is so hot that the rock is
molten  and soft. It hardens near the surface
as it cools, forming a crust. This rocky crust is
made of tectonic plates. These plates
connect together, like huge jigsaw pieces.
The molten rock wants to come out so it gives
pressure for the plates to move directions but
the plates resist. Sometimes, though the
pressure is so strong that the plates move
and when that happens, you feel an
earthquake.

“Okay, everyone go to the table and get
creating” Said Mr.Roy then everyone went to
their table and started creating. Me, my friend,
my other friend (Fine & savannah) thought
creatively and Mr.Roy gave us equipments to
make our flags. Our team was thinking hard
how to do it. Dyzon’s team finished first then
us and then everyone else. I had a great time
and it was a fun activity.

“Hurry up” yelled mum I said “Okay, let’s go”

On Saturday me, my mum, my sister and my cousin
went to the market to explore instead of staying in
the house.

We went to the market to buy food and look
around, “mum cmon I wanna go here” I said,
“Okay” mum said.

These are the foods we ate, we ate kebabs,
pretzels, sausages and we drank smoothies.

After we went to buy some dresses for our little
cousin’s birthday and it was the best day ever.
After we went to the cafe to get coffee for my
sister.

We were all tired and we went home, then we went
for dinner. We went to sleep all after that busy day.

Part 1 - Hou yi and the sun birds

Years ago, 10 sun birds lived in a volcano.
Each day, 1 bird will leave, fly up into
the sky and fly around the world,
bringing heat, warmness and light to all
the land.

One day, the 10 birds decided to go out
on the same day. 10 birds made it 10x
hotter on land. The land was scorched,
seas were dried up, animals and crops
died in the fields it meant it was a
drought. It felt like the world was gonna
catch on fire.

We had to do something quick. The
Emperor sent for a young man named Hou yi. ‘Save us,’ said the Emperor. ‘Shoot down the sun birds.’

Hou yi took 10 arrows and a colossal bow, and he ran to the top of a mountain. He shot down the sunbirds 1 by 1, until there was 1 left in the sky. He let the last 1 go so that it would continue to give warmth, sunlight and heat.

‘You have saved the world,’ said the Emperor, and he rewarded Hou yi richly.

We chose to make cards with the picture of
a sun because the sun reminds us of
 happiness and people who are devastated by
a natural disaster should remember that just
as the Sun comes up everyday in the sky after
a dark night, life can be mended too. So we
should not lose hope.
