Earthquake

 Earthquake

In an earthquake there is loss of life and property. Sometimes the whole city gets destroyed and can cost millions of dollars. So people have to live in camps together for months. There is scarcity of food and water. People are devastated and miserable because their houses are busted down. When there is an earthquake there is a possibility that there will be a tsunami and when it  happens people feel vulnerable because they don’t know when it’s coming and they get scared because they may lose their loved ones. So people need to prepare themselves against the dangers of disasters.
Shallow earthquakes are the strongest and they are the closest to the Earth’s surface. Earthquakes that are magnitude 2 or 3 do not damage property but
earthquakes with magnitude over 6 can be dangerous.

Example
The christchurch earthquake that happened in 2011 was a magnitude of 6.4 on the richter scale.
